Anyway, when I went to format the External HDD, these were the only options it had:

MAC OS EXTENDED (JOURNALED)
MAC OS EXTENDED
MAC OS EXTENDED (CASE-SENSITIVE, JOURNALED)
MAC OS EXTENDED (CASE-SENSITIVE)
MS-DOS (FAT)

Which one do I choose? The one you specified isn't there..

Well, the customisation will take maybe 10 mins, and then install should take 20-30 mins.

Some stuff may need fixing after then, but shouldn't be more that 1 hour.

Okay, cool. I'll be on around about 1 onwards anyway. How long do you reckon it'll take to install once I have formatted the External Hard Drive?

Anyway regarding what you said. I put the Disc in and just booted from CD, the Apple Logo appeared in centre of screen and it said press the arrow, so I did. Then I went onto Disk Utility. If that is right.. I guess I just choose the External HDD and format it to what you said. I'll then shut down my PC I guess and await your instructions.
